Agni is Sanskrit for fire. Heat, combustion, and energy are the realm of Agni. It symbolizes the transformation of the gross to the subtle--Agni is life-giving energy. It is the force of intelligence within each cell, each tissue, and every system throughout the body; thus the Ayurvedic concept, Agni, is critically important to our overall health. The choices we make throughout our day, and sometimes those we've made in our past, influence the status of our Agni. When Agni is strong, we are able to sustainably digest and assimilate what we consume — food, thoughts, actions, and ideas. When Agni is weak, we are not able to digest what we intake. We are not what we eat. We are what we digest. Ultimately, it is the discernment of Agni that determines which substances enter our cells and tissues, and which substances should be removed as waste. In this way, Agni is revered as the gatekeeper of life. A strong balanced Agni is crucial to our health. Essentially, Agni can be summarized as “inner fire” or “sacred knowledge.” Remember to breathe, for it is air that gives life to fire.

I also recently completed Yoga Teacher Training at Body and Shine here in Elgin, another one of my great passions. I like to mix yoga into my already integrated massage practice of: Swedish, Deep Tissue, Lauterstein Deep Method, and Myofascial Release techniques to provide a relaxing and effective massage. In my off time I like to deepen my yoga practice, music, fitness the great out doors, cooking, tend the garden, do it yourself projects, learn, travel.

Heather Desparois

Massage Therapist/ Yoga Instructor

Hello there! My name is Heather, I recently completed my training at the Lauterstein Conway Massage School in Austin where I was trained in swedish, lauterstein deep method and myofascial release. I am also a certified yoga instructor with 200 hrs of YTT. I’m a firm believer in getting to know one’s self; mind, body and spirit and aim to aid my clients in deepening their own personal experience as well. I give every client my full attention and care, providing deep relaxation and relief.
In my free time I love to deepen my own yoga practice, and connecting with individuals in the community. I love the outdoors, especially swimming in the river and hiking. I have many creative outlets, whether it’s wire wrapping jewelry, painting or whatever comes to mind. Being that I am also a big animal lover, with over 12 years of experience in the veterinary field, and a handful of years with my own pet grooming business, I’ve never been able to say no to an animal in need of a helping hand. Just as much as I am an animal person I am a people person which is why I decided to switch my focus to helping people too. So here I am! I look forward to meeting you
